ABOUT FOPAG
The Federation of Parents Associations, Gujarat (FOPAG) has been formed to bring together all the parents and their associations under one common umbrella to present their grievances in a strong and a unified voice to the government and its departments concerned with education, child welfare etc.
The reason for the formation The FOPAG lies in the introduction of FAA (Fees Amendment Act) 2017 announced by the Government of Gujarat, to curb the rampant fees charged by the unaided self-financed schools, which had been given permission only to operate their institutes on a nonprofit and charitable basis, to impart affordable and holistic education. It’s the noncompliance by the educational institutes, which has led to the rise of several rifts between the parents and such institutions. These institutions have become hubs of profiteering and rampant discriminations.
It has been observed that the said institutes have been rampant in exploiting the parents by pressing the parents as children are their weak point and a policy of divide and rule amongst the parents. Since parents would not like to come in open fearing harassments to their kids, which is happening again in a rampant manner, activists came forward to fight for their rights and have been giving a fight since 2016. Again it was observed that all parents were working on their own ideas and again the institutes and government were seen exploiting them for working independently.
Looking at these developments, it was the need of the hour was to form a Federation to bring all such associations and the activists under one roof and provide a formidable united front to address the grievances of such people.
At FOPAG we believe that education is the fundamental right of every citizen and should be imparted in free and fair manner without the bias of caste, religion, status, gender or age.
At FOPAG our MISSION is to bring about absolute transparency and to curb the illegal practices by the institutes and if by government also with the group of very capable cell of advocates, educationalists, and activists to provide legal and technical advice to best of their knowledge and capabilities. The GOAL is to be committed to uplift the education level to global standards by researching and reforming in education structure of this state and country.
